Yes Centos is a good choice if you need 2+ years of service lifetime
for the install. Also note that Fedora Project builds a repository of
addons for RHEL and Centos called EPEL. EPEL 4 works for RHEL 4 and
Centos 4, while EPEL 5 works with RHEL and Centos 5.
Just to note, EPEL follows fedora contribution policy pretty closely,
so its possible to participate as a package maintainer for addon
packages not yet available in EPEL.
