high bandwidth datarates with web100

Umm, I happened to attend an astronomy simulation talk at ARSC today and
at the end of it someone mentioned they are going to write a project soon
about high bandwidth networking, internet of next generation etc.. ( I
have no clue as to what they were talking about) Anywho, on a
related note, I recently heard of web100.org's linux kernel
patch,for transparently achieving high bandwidth data rates over
networks. anyone played with it here?
