Re: [lug] Justin's mserv/icecast
UAFLUG is streaming the live signal of KSUA now from
http://linux0.cs.uaf.edu/radio
but Justin set up a truly cool system that ran from http://ksua.uaf.edu/mserv
that used the mserv jukebox software (http://www.mserv.org) to provide a
live icecast stream. Mserv was originally intended for multiple people on a
LAN, to control the single stereo that they all listen to. So Justin's setup
allows multiple remote users to share the control of the same mp3 stream.
That's what the board doesn't seem to like, and they imply that it will take
away from interest in KSUA's broadcast signal, and therefore shouldn't exist.
I think that's *really* silly. I suppose that means they would rather not
have the other radio stations in town as competition, either!?
