UAF-LUG lecture series continues: 5pm Friday Oct. 1

Where: Greuning 408, UAF campus
When : Friday, October 1, 5pm

This coming Friday, I will be giving an informal talk on
implementing a TCP server on unix-freenix systems. I don't fear
encompassing all *nix systems, since I will be discussing my experiences
with the perl socket modules, which should be portable to most systems,
perhaps even non-unix.

I'll try to give a very basic overview of TCP and IP protocols,
how to not deal with them by letting perl do the work,
and will wrap up by discussing why such a server will be a boon for the
animation project <G>.

If you'd like to help out by sticking up a few flyers around campus, your
work, on your car or spouse, or just to use as placemats, one can be found
at

after seeing this one, note that a lecture on using the GIMP for desktop
publishing would be a _very_ much appreciated! <hint>
