If you're just starting out most of the new packages are pretty easy to
install.  Is SAMS selling Mandrake with the book?  That is basically Red
Hat with an improved <?> installer.  Most of the people on this list have
the SUSE demo disk.  That's not too tough to install.  Caldera Open Linux
2.3 is supposed to compare favorably to Red Hat 6.1 for ease of install.

If you can install NT4 you can install any of these,
